TVKE 15:17 NIGHTS/ 18 DAYS KENYA A LA CARTE SAFARI: DAY 1: ARRIVAL NAIROBI- HRS: On arrival at the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta international Airport, we will be there to meet you for assistance and transfer to the Nairobi Safari Club/ Safari Park/Nairobi Serena. You are booked on Bed and Breakfast. – BB www.nairobisafariclub.com/ www.serenahotels.com DAY 2: NAIROBI-TSAVO WEST N.P After breakfast, depart for Tsavo National Park-approx 297 km ex Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at Finch Hattons Luxury Tented Lodge. Lunch will be followed by a late afternoon introductory game drive. Overnight Finch Hattons Tented Lodge. (B, L, D) www.finchhattons.com/ Nestling at the foot of the Chyulu Hills, is this conservation friendly luxury tented lodge, named after the aristocrat who introduced royalty to the bush. Set in 35 acres of unfenced African ‘bush’ the site is often visited by lions, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and plains game. The generously appointed luxury tents are individually located around a series of freshwater hippo pools where guests can enjoy closeness to game and its natural habitat. The superb facilities include a fine secluded swimming pool, a quality restaurant and a pleasant public area and a bar. DAY 3: FINCH HATTONS Full day at the lodge, with morning and afternoon game drives. You may spend some times at leisure as the choice is yours! Game includes innumerable hippo, huge crocs, many species of plains game and elephants. A carefully laid back walkway (elevated where appropriate) offers a 2 km of nature walk. Afternoon may be spent at leisure followed by a game drive heading to Kitani. Dinner and overnight is spent at the lodge. You are unlikely to want for anything. In this pleasant oasis everything is quiet, apart from the sounds of the animals. As you savour your last night here, your only regret is returning back to the hustle and bustle of city life! (B, L, D) DAY 4: FINCH HATTONS-SEVERIN CAMP After breakfast, it’s a farewell drive out of Finch. We game drive en route as we head to the Severin Luxury Tented Camp for lunch. NAIVASHA An early pre-breakfast game viewing drive is possible today. Take breakfast and drive back to Nairobi, with a lunch break at Nairobi Serena’s Madhari Restaurant/ at Safari Club. Proceed to Lk. Naivasha-Distance: 85km (1 hr 15 min.) via the Rift Valley escarpment with breathtaking views of the world's greatest land rift to papyrus fringed Lake Naivasha. Optional Sunset boat ride to see the hippos. Overnight accommodation at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge/Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge/Lake Naivasha Country Club, (B, L, D) www.sopalodges.com DAY 6: NAIVASHA-SAMBURU Morning departure drive to the beautifully rugged Northern frontier of Kenya- Samburu game reserve, arriving at the Samburu Serena Lodge in time for lunch. After Lunch depart on an afternoon game drive. Samburu Serena Safari Lodge DAY 7& 8: SAMBURU SERENA Whole days at Samburu to explore. You have all the options at your disposal- either 2 game drives or, just laze by the pool and do a game drive late in the evening. Overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge Samburu National Reserve DAY 9: SAMBURU-MT.KENYA Breakfast at the lodge. Followed by a short drive, south to the Serena Mountain Lodge for lunch. Here, you will enjoy game viewing from the comfort of your room balconies, as they come to quench their thirst the water hole and salt lick around the lodge. All meals and overnight Serena Mountain Lodge. (B, L, D) DAY 10:MT.KENYA-LK. NAKURU Leave leisurely after breakfast and drive via the Nyahururu Water Falls (Thompson Falls – commonly known as the T-falls!) stopping to view, and down the escarpment into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park located right on the floor of the awe-inspiring Rift Valley. This soda lake is ridged by picturesque hills giving a wonderful view of the whole expanse of the lake and shores, drawing many aquatic birds along with the countless flamingos whose flight makes a pink cloud against blue water. Over 450 species of birds are available in this sanctuary. Lunch at your lodge will be followed by an afternoon game drive in this small game-filled Park returning at dusk for dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill/ Lk. Nakuru Lodge The landscape surrounding Lake Nakuru includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. Set on a plateau in the Rift Valley, overlooking one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru, stands Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. NAKURU-MASAI MARA SEKENANI CAMP/SEIMILAR After an early breakfast, continue through the Great Rift Valley floor via Narok town to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive at Sekenani Camp for lunch. Early afternoon spent at leisure. Late afternoon game drive in the reserve – home to the “Big Five”elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, hippo, impala, gazelle and numerous other wildlife including many hundreds of species of birds. Return to your Lodge at sundown for Dinner & Overnight. You spend the next six nights/ 7 days exploring this incredible, species rich reserve-with a taste of top luxury rated accommodations. The Masai Mara is the Jewel in the Crown of East Africa, forever to be associated with vast numbers of game - the greatest wildlife experience of all. Year round the Masai Mara Reserve is host to an enormous concentration of animals, boosted by the famous wildebeest and zebra migration during July/August/October. All the Big Cats, Elephant, Black Rhino and thousands of plains game spread out before you - it's better than the Discovery Channel because you are part of the spectacle. The birds are fantastic - from the giant Martial Eagle, to the ground Hornbill and a myriad of other diverse species. The Mara is undoubtedly Hollywood Africa, grass plains interspersed with Migunga and Croton thickets, rolling hills and small kopjes, islands in the sea of grass abound. Small rivers feed massive fig trees on their banks. This is the northernmost extension of the Serengeti ecosystem and is a microhabitat in its own right. Here during the months of July to December you witness the spectacle of the migration of a million and a half Wildebeest and Zebra, with all their attendant carnivores, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Hyena and possibly Wild Dog.
