ADVENTURES PLUS

These adventures involve occasional guided foot hike/walks and 4x4 drives-passing through some of what we consider off track safari routes….with scenic and dramatic landscapes,, images and encounters.

TAPW 001: 09 NIGHT/10 DAYS SCENIC KENYA TREK

Day 1: Nairobi – Mara

We will come to the hotel between 0700 – 0730 hrs to collect the clients and
depart from here before 0800hrs for the Mara via the old escarpment road.
Before heading out of Nbo, we will stop over at a supermarket so that the
clients may buy their desired drinks, drinking water and snacks. Enroute, we
will stop over at the Rift Valley view point where you will be able to take
loads of pictures of the scenery. We will then descend into the Rift Valley
and cross over to Narok town. Here we will have a short break and then proceed
to the Mara. We should be in the Mara towards early afternoon and we will have
a game drive as we proceed to camp. At camp, we will have a late lunch, set up
camp and leave for an evening game drive at 1600hrs. We will return to camp
around 1830hrs for evening tea, to be followed by dinner later on.

Day 2: Mara
We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup
of tea, we depart for our early morning game drive at 0630hrs to seek out the
big cats. We will return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After freshening
up, we will depart towards late morning to head to a traditional Maasai
village, where you will have a chance to get an insight into their lifestyle.
After visiting the village, we will proceed for a picnic lunch on the Mara
River and a whole day’s game drive. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea
and followed by dinner. after dinner you will be entertained with Maasai
dances by the campfire.

Day 3: Mara – Naivasha
After breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Naivasha. We will have a game
drive as we are heading out of the camp. We will arrive at the cottage in
Naivasha in the afternoon for a late lunch. After lunch, if you wish, you may
take a walk to the lake shore.

Day 4: Naivasha – Mt. Kenya forest
After an early breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Mt. Kenya region.
Enroute we wills topover at the Thompson’s falls in Nyahururu and at the
Equator. We will arrive at camp for a late lunch and then proceed for a nature
hike in the Mt. Kenya forest, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to
acclimatise to the altitude.

Day 5: Mt. Kenya Expedition
After an early breakfast, we will leave for your Expedition up Mt. Kenya via
the Naromoru route. Once at the park gate, you will start hiking through the
forest, as you make your way to the MET station, where you will spend the
first night.
Day 6: MET station – Mackinder’s camp
After an early breakfast, you will start your ascend, tackling the “vertical
bog” and stopping over at picnic rocks for a break. You will then proceed to
the ridge overlooking the Teleki Valley and drop down to Mackinder’s camp, for
a night, in readiness for your dawn attack to Pt. Lenana.

Day 7: Mackinder’s camp – Pt. Lenana – MET
After an early morning call, and a quick cup of tea, you will start your dawn
attack, ascend to Pt. Lenana. You should arrive at the peak by dawn, to catch
the sun rising over the mountain. We then descend to Mackinder’s for
breakfast, after which you begin your descend to MET station. Enroute, you
will have lunch and you will spend a night at the MET station.

Day 8: Mt. Kenya – Samburu
After an early breakfast, you will start hiking to the gates of Mt.Kenya Park.
The vehicle will be waiting for you at the gate, then we will proceed with our
safari to Samburu. Pending on our time schedule, we will either have a late
lunch at the camp in Samburu or enroute. Upon arriving at Samburu, we will
have a game drive as we head to camp and then set up camp. If we make it to
Samburu I good time, we will have an evening game drive

Day 9: Samburu
We will start off the day with an early wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick
cup of tea, we will head out for an early morning game drive and return back
to camp at 0930hrs, for breakfast. After breakfast, you will spend the day at
the camp, which is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Lunch will
be served on the river banks, and in the afternoon, at 1600hrs, we will depart
for an evening game drive, to return to camp at 1830hrs for evening tea, to be
followed by dinner.

Day 10: Samburu – Nairobi
After an early breakfast, we will decamp and start heading back to Nairobi.
Enroute to the gate of the park, we will have a game drive. Once on our way
back, we will stop over for a picnic lunch and return to Nairobi in the
evening to wind up a camping safari holiday well spent in Kenya, dropping you
at your hotel.

The rate for the safari described above will cater for the following:

• Transport and game drives in a safari spec 4WD Land Cruiser with a roof hatch
• Services of a cook during the safari
• 3 meals a day at camp during the safari
• Provision of all camping equipment
• Provision of 2 man tents
• Provision of high density mattresses
• Services of a guide for Mt. Kenya
• Services of a tracker for the Mara
• Visit to a Masai village in the Mara
• Masai dances on the last night in the Mara
• A guide for Mt. Kenya
• A cook for Mt. Kenya

• Drinks and drinking water

• Personal mountaineering equipment e.g rucksacks, walking sticks, boots etc.

• Tips for the staff at the end of the safari
  
  Note:

• Tea and coffee is always available at camp.
  On the morning of the departure for the safari, we will stop over at a
  convenience store, so that you may buy your water and desired drinks.
  Our guest cottage in Naivasha lies on a 5 acre piece of land and is fully
  furnished and has electricity. It consists of 3 rooms [with double beds], 2 of
  which are ensuite. Here you will have a chance to recharge camera batteries
  and it will also give them a break from camping, freshening them up for the
  rest of the safari.

Our stops in Naivasha are more or less “technical” stops, as these distances
between the destinations cannot be done in a day, since w ill be pulling a
detachable trailer.
During the visit to the maasai village and during the dances, you will be free
to take as many pictures as you like, at no extra cost.
During the safari, the clients will have the vehicle to themselves; they will
not share it with other holiday makers.

TAPW 002: 09 NIGHT/10 DAYS SCENIC KENYA TREK-2

Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdares
We will come to the hotel between 0700 – 0730 hrs to collect the clients and
depart from here before 0800hrs for the Mara via the old escarpment road.
Before heading out of Nbo, we will stop over at a supermarket so that the
clients may buy their desired drinks, drinking water and snacks. Enroute, we
will stop over at the Rift Valley view point where you will be able to take
loads of pictures of the scenery. We then proceed to Aberdares and should
arrive at camp by mid day. After setting up camp, you will have a picnic lunch
at camp and spend the afternoon at camp acclimatising to the high altitude.

Day 2: Aberdares
After breakfast, we will start preparing for our hike and head out by 1000hrs.
a picnic lunch will be eaten during the hike. We will keep the option of the
duration for the hike open to when the clients wish to return to camp.

Day3: Aberdares – Naivasha
After an early breakfast, we will decamp and depart for Naivasha. Pending on
our time schedule, we will have a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, followed by a
picnic lunch y the lake shore. We will then proceed to our cottage for the
night. If you wish, you may take a walk to the lake shore in the afternoon.

Day 4: Naivasha – Mara
After breakfast, we will pack up and depart for Maasai Mara. Enroute, we will
make a stop over at a town called “Mai Mahiu”, where you could have a little
stretch and break before we head out across the floor of the Rift Valley to
Narok town. This is the last major town that we will cross before heading out
into the Mara. Pending on the time that we leave for Mara and the number of
breaks that we have enroute, we should be in the Mara by early afternoon. We
will have a game drive enroute, as we head towards camp where we will have a
late lunch. After setting up camp and freshening up, we will head out for an
evening game drive at 1600hrs to return to camp at 1830 for some evening tea
and dinner.

Day 5: Mara, whole day game drive
We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup
of tea, we depart for our early morning game drive at 0630hrs to seek out the
big cats. We will return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After freshening
up, we will depart towards late morning to head to a traditional Maasai
village, where you will have a chance to get an insight into their lifestyle.
After visiting the village, we will proceed for a picnic lunch on the Mara
River and a whole day’s game drive. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea
and followed by dinner. after dinner you will be entertained with Maasai

Day 6: Mara, walking safari
We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup
of tea, we depart for our morning walking safari at 0630hrs. At 0700hrs, you
will be taken to the drop off point, along with the maasai trackers. We will
pick you up at 0930hrs from the pick up point and bring you back to camp for
breakfast. After breakfast, we will spend the afternoon at camp and also have
lunch here. In the late afternoon, at 1600hrs, we will depart for our evening
game drive and return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and dinner.

Day 7: Mara – Naivasha
After breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Naivasha. We will have a game
drive as we are heading out of the camp. We will arrive at the cottage in
Naivasha in the afternoon for a late lunch. After lunch, if you wish, you may
take a walk to the lake shore.

Day 8: Naivasha – Amboseli
After breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Amboseli. We will stop over
enroute in Nairobi where you will have a chance to buy drinks from a
convenience store if you so wish. We will then proceed with our journey to
Amboseli. Pending on our time schedule, we should be in Amboseli for a late
lunch. After setting up camp in the afternoon, we will head out for an evening
game drive at 1600hrs. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and dinner.

Day 9: Amboseli
We begin the day with an early morning game drive and then return to camp for
breakfast. We will again head out to the swamps, as there is always a
concentration of wildlife here. Being permanent, you are bound to find Hippos
cooling off in them. The bird life here is prolific as well; it is a bird
watchers haven! Towards mid-day, we will depart from the camp for the
observation hill for a picnic lunch. This is a vantage point in Amboseli which
overlooks the swamps and deserts in the park. Right in front of the
observation lies the majestic snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. After lunch, we
will return to camp to freshen up and get ready for our evening game drive
which will commence at 1600hrs and we return to camp at 1830hrs.

Day 10: Amboseli – Nairobi
After breakfast we will decamp and head back for Nairobi. Enroute to the gate
we will have a game drive and we will also stop over for lunch on our way back
to Nairobi. We should arrive back in Nairobi in the afternoon to wind up a
camping safari holiday well spent in Kenya, dropping you at your hotel.

The rate for the safari will cater for the following:

Transport and game drives in a safari spec 4WD Land Cruiser with a roof hatch
Services of a cook during the safari
3 meals a day at camp during the safari

The rate for the safari described above, on a per person basis, for 2 pax and
in US Dollars will be $2000 per person.

Please note:

-Park fee is INCLUDED in the rate.
-depending on my workload in Nairobi at the time, I will accompany you for the
safari, at no extra cost.
-Tea and coffee is always available at camp.
